Busy, busy, busy!

It has been a busy week around here! Late night rehearsals started this week, and Ben has been doing very well with them. I'm very proud of him!

Ben is also taking a summer school enrichment class called Music Mania. It's taught by his regular music teacher, Ms. Brown, who "gets" him pretty well. They are learning drums and also preparing a performance called Be A Star. He has the role of country star wannabe, so he's modeling his character on Blake Shelton. He is a fan of Blake from watching The Voice for the last 3 seasons.

To add to the craziness of his schedule, that performance will take place on the last day of summer school, which also happens to be the morning following opening night of Oz. Let's hope that he is still handling the late nights by then! :)

After Thursday night's rehearsal until 10:30, Ben got up early to day camp at the Milwaukee Zoo on Friday. The camp's theme was What's Up, Doc? and they learned about the work of veterinarians in the zoo. He has been going to zoo camp for the last 5 years or so, and they are always great!

After zoo camp, we headed to Mayfair Mall to hit the LEGO store. We usually don't buy anything (because we have so many already), but as a reward for all his hard work Ben has been doing on Oz, Ben was allowed to pick out a few sets. He chose a couple of Chima sets, which are little pull-back racer bikes with animal riders. After an early dinner in the food court, we headed back to Fond du Lac for another late-ending rehearsal. This time they were done at 10:45 and had to be back at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday! Eek! They finished this morning's rehearsal at around 12:15 and he finally had some much-needed downtime at home. Yeah!

Then it was off to Green Bay for cousin/niece Ingrid's 13th birthday party! It was a nice low-key gathering and the weather was surprisingly cool. Ben and his same-aged cousin Greta, played together for most of the afternoon and evening. It was just what he needed!

We came home at bedtime, so he's asleep now and hopefully will stay sleeping well into the morning! There's no rehearsal tomorrow, so it will be a quiet day at home and I think everyone will enjoy that for a change!

Whew! I am exhausted from describing all of that... I think I'll say good night!

Heather :)
